PRESS RELEASE
Global Minorities Alliance condemns the recent attack on minority Member of Balochistan Provincial Assembly Hendry Masih. Mr Masih was the member of National Party (NP) who was elected on the reserved seat for minorities from NM-65 constituency.
Hendry Masih was accompanied by his nephew when he was riddled with bullets by his own bodyguard in front of his residence while his nephew was left injured.
Mr Masih was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
GMA’s Chief Executive, Manassi Bernard while extending his condolences to the bereaved family said: “Attacks on minority politicians have become the norm of the day and Pakistan Government has been unable to protect it’s own citizens regardless of their position.
“Anyone can kill anyone and walk free. For minorities it is even more a horror” said Mr Bernard.
We demand Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, for the immediate arrest of the assassin and prosecute him as soon as possible before this tragic incident too gets a forgotten story like that of Shahbaz Bhatti, the federal minister for minorities who was shot dead by extremist group on March, 2011 whose murderers are still scot-free.
